Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Autumn is here, the September light is glorious, the trees laden with apples and chestnuts. Our ‘potager’ is giving up its final bounty - countless butternut squash, onions, garlic, peppers and chillies - I can feel a delicious veggie curry coming on!
With the apples, a luscious Tarte Tatin beckons - crisp, buttery pastry, melt in the mouth apples smothered in caramel - divine!
Les Coudreaux is beautiful at this time of year, the tranquility broken only by the occasional sound of tractors as the farmers harvest their corn - winter feed for the all important cows. The log pile is stacked and ready for the wood burners - cosy nights snuggled in front of the fire - bliss!
